Jovana Tomić completed her undergraduate and master's studies at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, in the department of theatre directing.

She is the recipient of "Bojan Stupica" award for directing the play "Movement" at BITEF Theatre
She won the first prize of the Second Program of Radio Belgrade in the "Neda Depolo" competition for radio drama
The production "Movement" received six awards at the 65th Sterijino Pozorje Festival, Novi Sad, Serbia
The play "My Husband" has won numerous awards for acting performances (Vršac, Banja Luka, Rijeka)
"Hundred small deaths" won awards for music, acting and audience award in Zenica theatre festival, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The production "Women as lovers" won awards for direction, dramaturgy and costume design in Jajce theatre festival, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Jovana Tomić has served as a jury member at the 54-55. Bitef Festival
She paticipated in panel "Pichpreach - Unsex me" in Skoplje, North Macedonia 2024.
Together with Selma Spahić she was a part of Female Art Rising festival in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2024.
She has participated in numerous international programs and workshops (ASSITEJ, New Tides Platform). In the project "Bussole rotte" by Paolo Grassi in Milan, Italy, during her residency, she directed two short performances addressing the migrant crisis - "If twice rotates the weather vane" and "Waiting for future".
In collaboration with colleague Igor Koruga, a choreographer, she led the creative workshop YOUperform (Yugoslav Drama Theatre and Thalia Theater Hamburg, Germany).
