Giving space and contemplating the position of intersex individuals has brought, beyond obvious political and social responsibility, intimacy in reevaluating individual identity in relation to the community. Analyzing these relationships, in the case of this novel, we have encountered a spectrum of social taboos that define and condition us today. In the case of Middlesex, we have dealt with the question of what social monsters are and in relation to whom and what, some people designate others as such. Through the performance, we insisted on the instability of the concept of normal. "Normal is what manifests itself over time on its own". This sentence encompasses all aspects of the repressive society in which we all live, and the subjective perspective of the main character, an intersex individual, actually portrays a universal position of all of us, which is that the need for conformity, belonging, and acquiring the title of "normal" leads to a gradual forgetting of the possibility of free will.
